The Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America)—one of the nation’s preeminent professional organizations devoted to the advancement of intelligent transportation systems—announced it will hold its 2018 Annual Meeting in America’s Motor City, Detroit, June 4-7.

Given the leaps and bounds exhibited by some of the auto, tech and transportation industry’s top players in 2017, this year’s conference, which will be held at Michigan’s COBO Center, should be exciting to say the least.

“We are thrilled to return to Detroit in 2018,” said recently appointed ITS America President and CEO Shailen Bhatt. “As intelligent transportation systems and connected and autonomous vehicles are poised to dramatically alter the transportation landscape, ITS America welcomes thought leaders in transportation, technology and cybersecurity to discuss the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.”

Themed “Transportation 2.0,” the four-day event will feature centerpiece topics ranging from automation to connected vehicles and cybersecurity. The Call for Papers and Sessions is currently open, with a March 1 deadline. Eligible submission topics include:

  • Connectivity, Autonomy and the Future of Transportation and Transport
  • Electrification and Infrastructure
  • Regulatory and Financial Challenges Related to the Deployment of ITS Technologies
  • Cybersecurity—Privacy Opportunities and Challenges
  • Transportation Systems Operations
  • The Impacts and Opportunities of Big Data

Nearly 2,000 ITS professionals are expected to attend this year. Attendees will be eligible to participate in educational sessions and keynotes, view exhibits and demonstrations, and network with key industry leaders and stakeholders from the ITS sector. Awards will also be distributed to outstanding ITS America State Chapters, and nominees will be inducted into the ITS Hall of Fame.
