USDOT’s Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO) will host a free webinar on January 25 at 12-1:00 pm Eastern to update ITS stakeholders on data now available to the public from the Wyoming Connected Vehicle (CV) Pilot Deployment.

Wyoming’s Department of Transportation (WYDOT), in cooperation with federal, public and private stakeholders, is currently testing an extensive network of intelligent transportation systems and connected vehicle applications across a heavily freight-laden, 402-mile section of Interstate 80.

WYDOT vehicles and private industry freight vehicles are being equipped with CV technology to collect and relay data on highway and traffic conditions, such as the presence of adverse weather, forward collisions, active work zones and road closures. Via satellite transmission supported by roadside infrastructure, the equipped vehicles form a shared-information environment intended to enhance safety throughout the corridor.

The upcoming webinar will highlight valuable data generated by WYDOT’s connected vehicle pilot, and will discuss current and future datasets and their potential uses by external stakeholders. ITS JPO will also update the public on the agency’s ITS Data Program activities, including the debut of a new public web interface—the ITS Public Data Hub—which will house program data and make it available for free public use.

ITS JPO Data Program Manager Ariel Gold will provide a demonstration of the capabilities of the Public Data Hub during the free webinar. James O’Hara, ITS analyst for Nobilis, will co-host the event.

Registration for the webinar is now open, and can be accessed by visiting the ITS JPO’s public access point for ITS data.
